What's Happening at Richmond College Prep

There are a few new activities coming up:

Parent-led Crossing Guard/Traffic Control Program Starting Next Week
Next week we will be starting a new parent led crossing guard/traffic control program. RCP parents have been trained  and will be wearing yellow vests and have stop signs. This activity is scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 23rd. We will begin with Tuesdays and Thursdays supporting the morning drop off on Florida Ave.  Richmond Police Department have offered their support during the first two weeks of this program.

Read-a-thon- Friday, May 19th - Tuesday, May 30th
This Friday, May 19th the RCP Read-a-thon will start. Reading log and pledge form will be in the classrooms.

Spirit Week-Monday, May 22nd - Friday, May 26th
This year's spirit week is supporting the read-a-thon and we are encouraging students and staff to participate. Monday is crazy socks day and the featured book is Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. On Friday, students may wear their class color and a nature themed item, such as a flower, butterfly, bug, or leaf garland. The featured book is The Lorax.

Also at this year's festival we will have an area with activities designated just for the preschool-1st grade students. We have also invited summer program resource providers to come out and let families know about the different programs that are happening, such as Girls Inc., First Five, and Tandem Early Learning.
