Parent News February 2018

RCP Parent News:

RCP Parent Mark Saephan helped plan and coordinate the recent Healthy Richmond Parent Power Convening. He worked alongside Nystrom Elementary Parent Guadalupe Avalos and Richmond Community Organizer Bonnie Jackson. This event brought district and charter parents together to celebrate each other and to share and encourage each other.

RCP parents came out to support their fellow parent Mr. Saephan and received awards for the work they are doing at RCP and for the families in the Richmond Community.

RCP parent Ms. Dozier won the Unity Award for being someone who builds unity across Richmond. RCP parent Ms. Espinosa won the Strong Advocate Award for a being a parent leader who consistently advocates for the Richmond community and better school policies. RCP parent Cristal Banagan won the Innovator Award for being a parent leader who thinks outside the box and brings innovative ideas to light.

RCP parent Latonia Roberts was nominated for the Dedicated Volunteer Award, Ms. Roberts is a parent leader who volunteers to create a better Richmond. RCP Parents Ms. Marissa and Ms. Hinton were nominated for the Emergent Leader Award. These two parent leaders are taking serious initiatives to be engaged and to support the students and families of RCP.
