Special Education Update

We are excited to share that beginning July 1, 2026, Richmond College Prep will become its own Local Educational Agency (LEA) for Special Education.

What does that mean?

  • LEA (Local Educational Agency): The school or organization responsible for overseeing and providing Special Education services to students.
  • SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area): A group that helps schools provide Special Education support, training, resources, and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.

Richmond College Prep will partner with El Dorado Charter SELPA as we begin this new chapter.

What does this mean for families?

The good news is that your child's current Special Education services will not change because of this transition. Our goal is to continue providing high-quality support while also making information, resources, and communication more accessible for families.

A link to our SELPA partner will be available on our website so families can learn more about the services and resources available.

Beginning August 3, 2026, our new Special Education webpage will be live and will include:

  • Important Special Education information
  • Family resources
  • Staff contact information
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Updates throughout the school year

We are excited to strengthen our partnership with families and continue working together to support every student's success.
