Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month

Richmond College Prep proudly celebrates Latinx Heritage Month by honoring the rich traditions, history, and contributions of our Latinx students, families, and community.

Throughout the month, our students and staff come together to celebrate culture, community, and learning through stories, events, and classroom projects that highlight Latinx pride and heritage.

Hispanic Heritage Month Open House

Richmond College Prep celebrated Latinx Heritage Month with a special Open House showcasing our students’ creativity, knowledge, and pride in their heritage. Families and staff enjoyed an afternoon filled with powerful presentations, vibrant dances, heartfelt songs, and thoughtful projects that brought Latinx history and culture to life.

From Frida Kahlo–inspired self-portraits to Dia de Muertos altars and research on influential leaders, scientists, and inventors, every project reflected our students’ hard work and appreciation for the Latinx community’s contributions.

2nd Grade Influential Leaders

Second grade students created research projects about influential Hispanic leaders. Each student was assigned books to read and used a graphic organizer to record what they learned. They then created a final project poster highlighting the most important facts, quotes, and life events of their chosen leader. Students presented their projects in small groups before displaying them on the walls for the open house.

6th Grade Echoes of Empire

6th Grade Echoes of Empire

Culture lives in our stories, languages, traditions, and voices.

Our 6th-grade students spent time learning about the countries that make up Latin America — exploring the diverse histories, cultures, and identities that shape this vibrant region. Through research and discussion, they discovered that the people are at the heart of Latin America and that identity is something we share, honor, and celebrate.

Their message is one of pride, unity, and belonging: “We are Latin America.”

8th Grade Summer of the Mariposas

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, RCP’s 8th-grade Spanish 1 students explored the lives and legacies of influential Latinx figures who have shaped history and culture. From Celia Cruz’s music that inspired generations to Sonia Sotomayor’s trailblazing work on the Supreme Court, students celebrated stories of courage, pride, and perseverance. Their thoughtful presentations reflected both creativity and a deep appreciation for Latinx contributions to our world.
